- Actor Robbie Sublett, a graduate of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, stars as X Racer on the Nicktoons Network series "Speed Racer: The Next Generation" and appears in the upcoming film "Hachiko: A Dog's Story" with Richard Gere, Joan Allen, and Jason Alexander.
- An original oil painting of mountain man William L. (Bill) Sublette, by 1930s pulp magazine artist Charles Sultan, is for sale at Tribal Treasures Gallery. - The 175th anniversary of Fort William, the trading post founded by mountain man William L. (Bill) Sublette at Fort Laramie, Wyoming, will be celebrated on June 19 and 20, 2009, at Fort Laramie National Historic Site, including historical re-enactments. - Grammy-winning saxophonist Joe Sublett (a member of the Phantom Blues Band, Texacali Horns, and Jim Belushi's band, the Sacred Hearts) has released a new solo album, "Subtones," which is available to purchase at Amazon.com on CD or as an MP3 download.
- A U.S. News & World Report special issue, "Secrets of the Civil War," features an article on Abraham Lincoln's early years, including stories collected by his law partner, William Herndon (grandson of Ursula Sublett). The special issue can be found on newsstands, or purchased online.
- Baseball player Damon A. Sublett from Wichita State is playing this season for the Waikiki Beach Boys in the Hawaii Winter League. He was drafted by the New York Yankees to play for the short-season Staten Island Yankees in 2007. In 2008 he played for the Class-A Advanced level Tampa Yankees until he injured his ankle last spring.
- Latin music scholar Ned Sublette, the author of Cuba and Its Music and The World That Made New Orleans, explores the musical journey of conga player Mongo Santamaría from the Cuban barrios to the top of the international jazz world in the Summer 2008 issue of American Legacy Magazine.
- The 45th Anniversary edition of Cameron Allen's book "The Sublett (Soblet) Family of Manakintown, King William Parish, Virginia," the essential guide to Soblet/Sublett/Sublette family genealogy, is now back in print with an author's Preface and two new articles not available in previous editions. - Tim Sublette of Smithville, Missouri, a guitar teacher and owner of Smithville Music Studio, has released a new album titled "Minor Details (Acoustic Guitar Scenes)," available at CD Baby or other online CD stores. Tim Sublette's son, Chris Sublette, who has played with the Missouri bluegrass band Loose Gravel, is studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and plays the electric and upright bass.

- Longtime family researcher James Enoch "Jim" Sublett, Jr., of San Marcos, California, died on June 26, 2004. He helped many people research their ancestors over the years, and was a frequent poster on the genealogy forums.
- Meteorologist Sean Sublette appears on ABC 13 News on WSET-TV in Lynchburg, Virginia. He has previously worked for WSLS, NBC 10, in Roanoke, Virginia, and the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center near Washington, D.C.
